The staff of Harbor Haven Health & Rehabilitation are very pleased to announce that the facility was chosen to participate in the State of Wisconsin, Department of Health Services, Music and Memory Initiative. The Music and Memory Initiative is a music program designed to improve the lives of older adults, particularly those suffering from advanced forms of dementia.

One of the unique features of this program is that it will use digital music plus iPods and all residents involved will have music available to them based on their own preferences! So, the next time you are here to visit at Harbor Haven, you may likely see one of our residents, with earbuds in place and iPod in hand. A related goal of this program is to reduce the reliance on antipsychotic medication use and at the same time reducing behaviors associated with dementia.

We look forward to adding this service to enhance the quality of life for our residents who struggle with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

We would also like to talk with anyone who might have an interest in donating iPods to this very worthy cause. For more information on this program, please contact Beth Krebsbach, Activities Director, at or at 920-929-3528.
